virtues for your vices...Ideally, we would like to only be consuming foods and substances that are physically nourishing to our bodies. The reality is that many of us consume things that may be nourishing to us on an emotional or mental level. Long-term consumption of sweets, tobacco, caffeine, alcohol and other altering substances puts stress on the body, depletes nutrients and can harm organs like the liver, heart, pancreas and lungs. It can also negatively influence memory, brain function and mood by depleting neurotransmitters.
